How Adviser Ratings verifies and approves adviser profile claims

When you claim your profile, your details don’t go live automatically. Every claim is reviewed by our team to ensure the person submitting the request is the genuine adviser.

Our team mediates and approves all profile claim requests, and this process can take up to 48 hours.

What happens during the verification process:

Identity and eligibility checks
We cross-check every claim against the regulator ASIC’s professional listings. Only advisers who appear as current on the FAR are eligible to claim a profile. We verify your licensee, business details and registration status, ensuring the information aligns with the regulator. This regulator-aligned check helps prevent impersonation and ensures only the genuine adviser can complete a claim.

Manual review to prevent impersonation
Claims made using contact details that do not match the adviser are not approved until verified with the adviser or licensee using independently sourced details.

Your profile can only be claimed once
Once a profile is successfully claimed and verified, it becomes locked to that adviser. Any additional claim attempts are blocked.

Post-verification safeguards
If someone later attempts to claim a profile that has already been verified and locked, the request is automatically blocked and reviewed by our team to prevent unauthorised access.

Regulator-aligned professional listings
After your claim is verified, your Adviser Ratings profile displays the licensee, authorisations, qualifications and professional memberships recorded on ASIC’s Financial Advisers Register (FAR). These details remain aligned with the regulator and update on your profile whenever changes are made on the FAR.

Matching with your licensee and professional listings
Once verified, we match your Adviser Ratings profile with your current registrations, authorisations and licensee details as recorded on the FAR to ensure full accuracy.

Email validation and security
We check whether the email used to claim your profile aligns with your name, business or licensee. If an email looks inconsistent or suspicious, the claim is paused and verified directly with you or your licensee.
