Understanding 12-Monthly Reviews and Lapsed Reviews
Adviser Ratings allows clients to leave a review once every 12 months. When a client’s review reaches 12 months old, they become eligible to re-review you.
What Is a Lapsed Review?
A lapsed review is simply a label within your Adviser Portal that identifies which reviews are eligible for updated feedback. When an existing review reaches 12 months old and becomes eligible for an update, that review is marked as Lapsed Review in your portal.
- The review does not disappear.
- It is not marked as lapsed on your public profile.
- The label is visible only to advisers and indicates the client can now provide updated feedback.
- You can find step-by-step instructions on how to re-invite clients to review you here.
Where to Find Lapsed Reviews
-
Go to Manage Reviews in your Adviser Portal.
-
Select Lapsed to filter all reviews available for re-invitation.

What Happens When a Client Re-Reviews after 12 months
-
The newest review appears above their earlier one on your public profile.
-
The earlier review remains directly underneath, creating a clear feedback timeline.
-
Prospective clients can see the continuity of feedback from the same person over time.
Having clients re-review you each year also supports your Google visibility, as fresh content is an important ranking factor.
How Review Counts Work
Clients can review you once every 12 months. When they leave updated feedback, their newest review is the one counted toward your total review count. Earlier reviews from that same client still remain visible on your profile as part of their feedback history, but they do not add to your count.
This ensures your review count reflects the number of individual clients who have provided feedback, while still displaying their full review timeline.
Fresh reviews also help boost your visibility in Google searches by keeping your profile active with new content.
Using Lapsed Reviews to Improve Client Feedback
Many advisers use the re review function as part of their regular client engagement process and powerful feedback monitoring tool. Because clients can re-review yearly, this feature is commonly used to:
- Check in on client satisfaction over time and at yearly reviews
- Keep their profile current and promote long-term client satisfaction
- Highlight consistent experiences from the same client over multiple years
- Maintain strong visibility in Google searches, as fresh, relevant reviews help keep your Adviser Ratings profile ranking well
- Leverage updated reviews as marketing content
- Showcase strong, consistent long term client relationships
